Tips to keep your environment clean
Hand hygiene saves lives and it’s simple. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with water and soap, equivalent to singing Happy Birthday twice. You can protect yourself against 80% of infections by practicing good hand hygiene.
Stop the spread of infection by coughing or sneezing into your elbow instead of your hands.
Guard against the spread of infection through the “toilet sneeze.” Close the lid of the toilet before flushing.
Protect against the spread of germs on fomites (any object that can carry infection), such as cellular phones, computer keyboards, and telephone handsets, by disinfecting surfaces daily with an alcohol wipe.
Help keep your kitchen germ free, sterilize your sinks and hard surfaces with boiling water. Boiling water kills 100% of all bacteria and viruses.
Change your clothes before greeting family members. Workers can unknowingly bring home infectious diseases on their work clothes and spread throughout the household.
Carry hand sanitizer with you in case you don’t have access to soap and water. Use paper towels to open doors if at all possible.
Patronize stores that care about your health and safety. Visit stores that provide hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes for their carts and baskets.
